A Breather.

It's been a while, but it's been fun. CIC successfully pulled off a company picnic on July 17th, hosted on a gorgeous summer day in Aurora, only to turn around and going into hiding. Yes,we're taking one. A breather, that is. What with the normal hecklers of life berating each and every one of CIC's members, we're having some down time. Never fear, for we'll still be around--these schemes don't plot themselves, ya know?--and ready to take on whatever gigs our loyal fans find for us or follow us to.
In the meantime, feel free to check out some of your favorite members (or maybe they're not your favorite. We're not here to judge.) of CIC in the web series "Kole's Law" to keep that ball of comedy rolling.

See you all soon!

On Fi-ya.

Big things are happening at the Candy In Church headquarters, folks. We're talking huge, like a Lady Gaga headpiece or this “census” thing. Firstly, our show at Pressure Comedy Cafe was an experience worth raving about. Packed to the seams with audience members and comedic talent alike, we couldn't have asked for a better opportunity (or entertainment!)

Our trip to Southbend, Indiana for the Chicory Cafe was also a great time, as we managed to draw a fairly large crowd during one of the heavier periods of snowfall in the region. Thanks for coming out, ye native dwellers! And your coffee was delicious!

So yes, huge things.

We've not only got five new gigs in the next three months (first and foremost
NuVibe on February 19th @ 7:00pm), but a stellar set of noggins working on making CIC even better in 2010. Buzz words like “consumer-friendly merchandise” and “OMG LITTLE BUTTONS!” have been thrown around, so keep a look out for our more tangible items at later shows.

Thanks for all of your support and keep tuned for more updates!

You've Come a Long Way, Baby...

Things are buzzing with excitement around the Candy in Church offices because there are a lot of new things happening to our group. First of all, our own Jenny Schuler designed, coded, and built us this fantastic new website. Don't get me wrong, the old one was fantastic, but this is beyond mind-blowing. It's pure awesome (and she's available for hire, folks!) Our new website interacts much better with social media. Of course, there are still sections to book us and watch our videos, but now we have a "meet the team" section, a new blog (as you've stumbled across) and an updated show section. So check it all out! Jenny put a ton of time and effort into the site and I think it is a good representation of the level we've taken CiC to - we were once a simple college improv club, and 5 years later we've come a long way.

We've started to book a lot more gigs as well, and not too soon. Our goal is to have a gig a month and so far this year has started out right. We did a New Year's Eve show for Calvary Reformed Church in Orland Park, and we're headed to Pressure Comedy Cafe, located on Chicago's north side on January 22nd and Chicory Cafe in South Bend, IN on February 5.

We've also got several gigs in the works in the South and West side of Chicago so there's plenty of opportunities to see us, and we'd love to have you come out to our shows. I think I can speak for the entire team when I say our fan-base is the most important aspect of everything we do. Without you, we'd be doing improv for an empty room, and that's when they stick you in a straight jacket and haul you away.

So keep in touch with us via facebook, twitter, or just visit our new website. We love interacting with you via this new-fangled technology, and we love seeing you in person at our shows.

Keep on Candying,

--Pete
